Voice for Khalistan Echoes in Capitol Hill

Washington – A leading Sikh group has gained access to the powerful corridors of the Capitol Hill with ultimate goal of seeking US lawmakers’ moral support for the creation of an Independent State for followers of Sikh religion, bifurcating, Indian Punjab, the Sikh majority state, The Daily Mail learnt.

When more than two dozen lawmakers announced formation of the first-ever Sikh American Congressional Caucus last week at the Capitol Hill, it was the presence of quite a number of individuals and representatives of organizations, who have always been openly supporting the cause of Khalistan, making everyone feel the importance and sensitivity amongst the Sikh to have an independent State, getting rid of the imposed Hindu rule.

"Sikhs who were present in the Sikh Congressional Caucus event in Washington were activists for the rights of Sikhs and were motivated by ideology of pro-Khalistan," said a prominent member of California-based North America Punjabi Association (NAPA).

A number of eminent Sikh American organizations say that as the courts back in India are now probing the riots of 1984 and the way the brutalities and ruthless killings of Sikhs by the Indian Security Forces during that era, which is by no means over yet, it becomes imminent for Sikhs to demand a separate and Independent State where they can live their lives with complete religious freedom and without any mistreatment on the basis of their religion or race.

These Sikhs, who also enjoy the support of the Sikhs, living in Canada and England in particular and from the rest of the world in general, say that the Capitol Hill is the best platform to gain support for this very legitimate and legal cause and they would continue to convince US lawmakers and policy makers to extend their support to this just cause.

They say that they do not support militancy for such purposes and that was why they had adopted the most democratic and most appealing way of gaining the moral support for their cause.

The Indian Embassy in Washington, which was not invited to this event, what many term as a historic one, has said it has always stood for the protection of the interests of all Indian Americans including members of the Sikh American community.

Insiders in the Sikh American community, who worked behind scenes for the creation of the Sikh Caucus, said that the Indian Embassy officials had expressed displeasure to the US lawmakers over the move.

An official of a New York-based Sikh advocacy group said, this was one of the reasons that none from the Indian Embassy were present at the launch event, which for the pro-Khalistan group is being billed as their major "diplomatic victory" against India after a long time.

However, the lawmakers, after the input by the Indian Embassy have asserted that the goal of this caucus is to address the issue of "hate crime" against the Sikhs US, as the community has been a major victim of it post 9/11.

"Rest assured, this platform will not be used against India. We are aware of the strategic importance of India-US relationship," a Congressional aide said on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to speak to the press.

Curbing Indian Atrocities on Sikhs by Stepping Towards Khalistan

I have started this writing based on no assumption. Before I can convince even myself that we Sikhs need independent nation, I need some answers of my own questions. I have tried to get the answers on my own by searching the information from the internet.

WHAT IS AN INDEPENDENT SIKH NATION?

As a simple common Sikh man, I understand that the independent Sikh nation is primarily meant to be nation where majority of the Sikhs resides and can progress on social, economic & religious emotions in good democratic manner based on Sikh philosophy. Also Punjabi Hindus & Muslims in malerkotla can live peacefully in this nation.

DID THE PRESENT SECULAR STATE OF INDIA PREVENT SIKHS FROM PROGRESSING ON SOCIAL, ECONOMIC, RELIGIOUS & EMOTIONAL FRONT?

As a naïve Sikh man, I initially thought in general, it seems no body stops us from making progress on economic front. Also religion wise, no body stop us to make gurduwara and worship wahaguru However I did make search to understand how far our Punjab have make progress after independence in 1947 by being part of INDIA?
I will try to put following points to point out, we would have been better of with independent land locked KhaIistan.
1) Despite giving so much to India in terms of foodgrains, pricing of the grains are not in our control. No canal system is in proper place for the land cultivation. Most of the water taken is out of ground that is going down very fast now & is toxic in nature! It may not remain for more than 10-15 years. An economic problem will even start on greater foot on our land & people.
Govt. of India never allowed our Punjab farmers to sell crops at highest value. No concrete infrastructure is in place to help farmers. Most of the time it is Hindu middle men whose mercy our Sikh farmer brothers depend on.
2) Neighboring states of Punjab are allowed to get most of the water for free. As an independent nation we can sell this water. History shows all water rich countries make lot of economic benefit from this (ex Argentina).
3) In a long run, for any region to sustain and grow faster in fast changing world, education is the key. It is the service industry that makes countries rich. Example: Japan, Israel & most of the western world. No money is being spent on education and relevant industrial because our area is near to Pakistan. No major MNC come to Punjab to set up high technology industry. Had we had our independent nation, this would not be the case. Make normal relationship among neighborhood with respect. Any company that wants to take advantage of retailing in Khalistan can be forced to setup R&D centers. But we cannot force this opening of R&D center in Punjab as most of the industry then tends to go close to Delhi and further south. With 13 MPs, Punjab is hardly in position to make such negotiations.
4) And what is our youth doing in the absence of no concrete service and manufacture industry? Well, going for drugs. Why? That’s what congress & other corrupt political parties give them to take votes. When elections come (local, state, national), it is drugs, liquor etc in free flow. Khalistan will never allow drugs. Many countries like Taiwan, Malaysia and Thailand have death sentence for such usage. Guess what, they have successfully controlled the potent death habit among their youths. But our secular India will never allow such rule to place in Punjab. So merry goes on. In fact congress pseudo Hindus would like our race to die. After all, that’s what national Hindu leader Mr. Balram Jahaar says ' To preserve the unity of India, if we have to eradicate 2-kror [ 20 million ] Sikhs, we will do so. (Balram Jhakhar, a colleague of P.V. Narsimharao, the former Indian Prime Minister, now Governor of Madhya Pardesh)
5) Recently, all universities in Punjab request for fund allocation. UGC is not giving enough funds to Punjab’s universities despite Punjab contributing too much in center tax revenue and food grain contribution. Check such news in local Tribune newspapers
So in brief, a water rich fertile land nation with good business skill can easily be self-sufficient economically. Any gas pipelines royalties are extra money. Money spent on education to make service oriented industry is what will make Khalistan a truly developed nation. With 10% Sikhs (20lakh) living abroad in already developed world, business contacts in moving forward along developed world is not an issue. We are indeed better off as landlocked small country than being part of India. (I welcome people to prove me wrong on my points above listed on economic, social front)

HOW TO GAIN INDEPENDENCE FOR SIKH NATION

The trillion dollar question is as how to get independence. Let’s study new countries that have gained independence in last 2 decades. Why only last 2 decades? Because world is keep changing fast. And we should learn how a nation creation is possible in current global political setup.

BIG NATIONS BREAKUP (PASSIVE POLICY)

Since 1990, 32 new countries have been created. Majority of them are created by break down of USSR & Yugoslavia. Certainly, the way these countries gain independence is not by individual effort but because of the collective failure of big nations as a whole. For us to follow this model means: We have to wait the day India breaks down.
1) May be because of Hindu-Muslim tensions.
2)  May be because of social disorder (naxalites), reservation problems (gujjers).
3) Or may be because of north –south divide in economic disparity.
The FIRST reason does not seem will work. Muslims who do not want to live in India have already moved out & whatever remains need not have strong race strength. Also they are not in majority except in Kashmir valley. Just a pocket of Hyderabad and UP (meerut etc) are no real danger for breaking India. Kashmir seems to have tamed with no much external support coming. Also Muslims got bad name worldwide.
The SECOND reason of naxalites also may not be good reason to believe. Since these people do not have international recognition. Beside they are against the idea of capitalism. South America in recent times has nations who get what we say left people win via democratic means. They come close to what I am trying to saying but again with little international support & no clear defined boundaries. The disturbance by such people will do just social riots. In our context of creating Khalistan, this still may not come handy. (Except Indian security forces resources are being used to handle/contain them)
The THIRD thought of north-south divide should be the most promising of the three options. As of now, all south states (AP, Karnatka, Tamil naidu) doing great in economic power. While Bihar, UP, Madhya Pardesh) are doing very poor.
The only north region which is giving any fighting chance is DELHI AREA against the south. So in long run of 15-20 years if this trend continues, the Southern states will be more assertive of their independent authority. The most promising one is the Tamil Nadu with anti-Hindi Dravidian parties like DMK MDMK etc. Their assertiveness also defined by LTTE success in sri lanka.
Until a Tamil state is not created in Sri Lanka,. Their own self confidence may be low about getting Tamil ELEAM in India as of now.
Note: Just a note to sangat, you can see how strong LTTE with is own aircrafts and committed squads of naval & army. Still they are not able to gain independence despite having northern controlled areas. REASON? NO major world power is ready to recognize it, including India & permanent members of the Security Council. So it is very important that we gain acceptance from Security Council, a moral support of our cause. Thus, not only recognition from the world will come but also the peacekeeping forces come handy from UN to start the national building process when our dream comes true.
So in brief the above discussed approach talked about, following a Wait & Watch policy. I am not sure how many people would like this approach. But this is certainly one of the passive possibilities. Let’s discuss other model of way nations gain independence by active struggle in recent times.

SMALLER PART GETTING INDEPENDENCE FROM BIGGER PART (PROACTIVE POLICY):

Of all the recent nations gaining independence from bigger or majority, East Timor gaining independence from Indonesia is the most prompt that I could search. In East Timor case, UN from the beginning never recognized the Indonesia brutal occupation on East Timor area. Thus when the time came of plebiscite, Timor people voted for independence. Taking same argument in our case. A non-official plebiscite of giving hardliner (Simranjeet Singh Maan) a power in Punjab elections will give sufficient indication to UN that people of Punjab do want independence. A UN understanding is must. Luckily India is not permanent member of Security Council. That still gives us possibility to break easily under this model of proactive.
New nation (East Timor), however, did pay a price of independence from Indonesia with destruction of its infrastructure. So, a word of caution to Sikh brothers. We may have to pay a similar price if not play our cards carefully.
BUT, a proactive policy comes with revolution. As we have seen in recent events in Punjab, people are not ready for revolution. There is no point in blaming in badal govt. Badal govt have people support. It is only last 10 years before they have seen the bad days of terrorism or Sikh fight as our brothers will like to call. That moment got directionless with no strong leadership. And also Ak-47 or swords are good for nothing against Indian army. So what to do? Give up arms and cry like baby with no clear cut solution in sight? No brothers, there is always is solution of every problem. It is question of how we will understand and act upon it.
One should understand the psychology of people in general. Everyone in this world fears from revolution. Since revolution brings changes and people in general do not like changes in their ambient area. In recent times during French elections, the present president talked about cuts in subsidy & doing more work. Many or majority of people voted against him because of the fear rather than optimism of opposite candidate. In our case, revolution will come only when our water level in Punjab goes down so much so that it becomes nearly impossible for people to survive. I hope it comes earlier lest it is too late.
With no proper channels in place, letting all water flow to neighboring Hindu dominated Haryana and Rajisthan, our Punjab will soon be dry land in next 15 years if similar situation remains. That will be too late. So, what to do? We need to start evolution approach to gain independence rather than a straight revolution approach. Of course, independence will only come with revolution. But to get into stage of revolution we need to do our homework proper by means of evolution.

WHAT IS THE MEANING of EVOLUTION? WHAT WE CAN DO TO MAKE IT WORK

I will try best to answer this question with example in technology area. Take the example of Finance package system in banks. Anyone in IT industry knows many components make a package as usable package. If one day we decide oh common all system is crap. It is not delivering what we want. Make changes in design and code all together. What will happen? It will fail. People dealing with package will cry & system as a whole will fail.
Same thing happens with revolution approach done for independence in early 80s. Sant Bhindranwale Ji did initiate and make point across Sikh community that there is need to have independent state for Sikhs. Nobody disputes that since under present system, Sikhs were losing their social, economic and financial fronts.
When the flash point came in 1984 to make decisions, there was no clear game plan. The moment army attacked golden temple, Sikh peasants simply made emotional run towards Amritsar. Result, army simply shot our unarmed Sikh brothers just like killing sitting ducks. The Hindu soldiers enjoy this killing. So what should we do? Just get angry. NO. Anger makes no result. We should learn the lessons. An unarmed crowd is good for nothing.
1)  EVOLUTION POINT 1: Our Sikh peasants should get armed with govt. licensed guns; and even unauthorized guns if that be the case but no need to use or show them. Keep for your own safely. Whatever reasons, have arms and be ready.
2) EVOLUTION POINT 2: Ex-servicemen should be ready to command the village army. DO this practice now only. Times may come in 5 or 10 years. We have to be patient and wait for right time.
All the Sikhs living outside of Punjab in India should make point to have contact in Punjab either by having second home purchase or business link setup. Or job of one of the family members in Punjab. It is important to make run towards Punjab when situation demands. What happened when 1984 massacre occurred? Many Sikhs became refugees in Punjab. It did not help them in any way.
3) EVOLUTION POINT 3: Sikh peasants should put pressure on Akali political leaders to make strong case for more canal systems in Punjab. Ground water should be last AND not the first option when looking for water in fields, drinking and other usage. So much water is flowing to neighboring state. Water is still state subject. The government cannot force us to send our water outside. So we can legally fight our case to stop sending water outside. There is concept of river based distribution across region. This is the smart Hindu move that results in too much water going out of Punjab. A strong legal team & brains are required to start reducing our outflow of water. A positive move is also required in our community to help restore ground water level. Try restoring the present forest land with trees. How small they be. Also ground water level restore systems can be installed using govt. subsidy approach.
4) EVOLUTION POINT 4: Now this evolution point goes to every Sikh, no matter whatever profession they are in. DEMAND our separate Sikh civil code for marriages & property distribution. This is very important to let international community know that we are different from Hindus. Khalistan can never become a reality if we do not have a separate identity. With time our future generations will get again diluted with UP/BHIAR Hindus in future. We need to be separate now. Let civil code be one of ways to do it.
5) EVOLUTION POINT 5: The casteism in Sikhism is regrettable especially when our Guru Ji teaches us to treat all equally. But I am not here to give lecture on what we should do to erode it. That we can discuss someday later. It is important that in Punjab our Sikh brothers who are low on economic and social scale should get reservation status much more than low level Hindus. Simple, we want our Sikhs to succeed. Every state in India makes reservation as per its local interest. We should use this tool to our advantage. Also this will help us to get away from DERA attacks on our panth. Let Hindu Muslim be parts of any DERA. We don’t care. Also, it is not our problem. So make political demand of more reservations for Sikhs.
6) EVOLUTION POINT 6: The Sikhs living outside of India can play a very important role in making the Sikh independent state a reality. I can see in news various organization are playing a very active role by putting point across UNO, EU & other organization. A win of Hillary Clinton as president of USA will be good for Sikhs with Clinton’s close friendship with Chatwals. I am sure people abroad are very active. The same momentum keeps going is all required.
7) EVOLUTION POINT 7: Our Sikhs brothers should be part of Sikh regiment. They are to play major role when revolution comes.
Well so far my evolution points are up to common people level. Now how my point will reach to masses.
8) EVOLUTION POINT 8: All computer nerds that are reading this article (Sikhs I mean) make point to spread this word across our brothers to do what is needful as per their situation as defined in the list above.
Also Sikh media is must have for our words to spread across. Stations like Akash radio should try putting more reach by moving towards air wave on Punjab soil.
If people propagate the above points on evolution the Sikh Nation will become a reality. The list for revolution points is not complete. There are many things that can be done while living under law & keep pushing before making final push. Just making Badal govt. to demand water & more reservation to economic less Sikhs in Punjab will ensure our slow & right movement towards our goal. BOTH WATER & RESERVATION are state power subjects.

EVOLUTION TO REVOLUTION

This depends upon how soon we are successful in getting our evolution points across. Time keeps passing by. The HARDLINE in Akalis should able to gain power in next general election i.e. in 4 year time. If that becomes possible the revolution stage can come early.

WHAT REVOLUTION ARE YOU TALKING? DID you SINCERELY THINK SIKHS can beat Indian army & police?

It will be better if India breaks from within. That will make efforts of our Sikh brothers easier. But good military general experience leading a break away Sikh regiment army can help us in fighting. Make point to use non-conventional warfare i.e. biological weapons. Put such weapons spread on all roads leading to Punjab. NOTE: Use such weapons only against fighting force NOT against population. Otherwise the WORLD will turn against us. Since such weapons are not allowed to be used. I am not talking about nuclear weapon. First, such weapon is out of our reach. Second, using such weapon can back fire. What will small state like Punjab do if our enemy uses the similar weapon? So the path is long and hard. But with international support and evolution approach we can move on to revolution stage.

Khalistan Hero : Babbar Khalsa

Bharati (aka Indian) media stories are reporting that various Bharati agencies have noticed a huge rise in Babbar Khalsa activities in Sikh portion of Indian Punjab. Obviously a leaf falls in Bharat and Delhi blames Pakistan. This time too, Delhi is trying to link the Sikh militants with Islamabad–even though no such link exists.
Bharati Sikhs feel deeply alienated from Delhi, and have been struggling for decades for a country of their own. The Sikh diaspora, specially in Canada is very vocal about independence.
Bharat ruthlessly put down a rebellion, which ended up in the partial destruction of Sikhism’s holiest shrine in Amritsar, known as the Golden Temple. After the massacre of Sikhs in the aftermath of Indira Gandhi assassination, the Khalsas ahve been active even though the large portion of their militants were arrested and extra-judicially murdered.
Police busted a module of Sikh militant group Babbar Khalsa International, which was planning to trigger bomb blast in the national capital and Himachal Pradesh, by arresting three members of the group.
While Purushotam Singh alias Bunty, Daljit Singh and Talvinder Singh were arrested by Mohali police on Friday night, two others, including Harinder Singh who is wanted in the 2007 blast at a theatre in Ludhiana, managed to escape.
A reward of Rs 5 lakh has been announced by the police on information leading to the arrest of Harinder who had returned to India last month after fleeing to Pakistan after the Ludhiana blast.
Sources said Harinder had shifted his base to Greece from where he had come to India to carry out the blast in the national capital and Naina Devi in Himachal Pradesh.
Police also announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh on Nirmal Singh who too had managed to escape. Police seized a pistol, some ammunition and cash totalling to about Rs one lakh from the three arrested.

Being referred to as the eighth wonder of the world, the Virasat-e-Khalsa will be dedicated to the nation on November 25, a day after the martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur. It is being conceived as a repository of the rich heritage of the Khalsa, its history and culture of the Punjab to inspire visitors with the vision of the Gurus, emphasizing their eternal message for mankind. The project, an inspiring tribute to the heroic and poignant saga of the Sikhs and Punjab stands amidst hills on a sprawling 100-acre area.
Moshe Safdie, an internationally acclaimed Boston-based Israeli architect, has designed the heritage complex. The project, which has been shaped like hands offering prayers, unfolds Sikh history and tradition like never before. The museum is intended to commemorate 500 years of Sikh history and the 300th anniversary of the Khalsa, the scriptures written by the 10th and last Sikh master Guru Gobind Singh, founder of modern Sikhism.
The project houses a museum, which have souvenirs related to Sikh history of all 10 Sikh Gurus, Guru Granth Sahib in the first phase and the history of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur to Partition in the second phase.
The eastern complex has a north wing, also known as the Flower Building. Its other wing is called the Boat Building or the Heritage Section. The roof of the Flower Building is shaped in the form of five petals - representing the Panj Piaras. Each petal houses an exhibit tracing the life of all Gurus from birth to attaining salvation/ martyrdom. The petal at the highest altitude has information and exhibits on Guru Granth Sahib. The tops of all petals have been covered with special stainless steel sheets. At night, the entire building illuminates with its large silhouette being reflected in the seven acres of water around it. It also illuminates the night skyline of the historical city of the birth of the Khalsa.
At the entry of the museum, permanent exhibits depicting Punjab before the birth of Guru Nanak have been placed. These will showcase the climate, culture and life of pre-Nanak times. The ceiling of this heritage building has been made of glass and its floor is covered with water. The aim of this exhibit is to make the visitor introspective, who are greeted with the thought-provoking concept of “Ek Onkar”. The “mool mantar” will echo all around this exhibit. It will have special sound effects and is situated in a drum-like building where lights will create an image of “Ek Onkar” and an audio message highlighting the core principles of Sikhism. Then starts a mesmerizing journey into the lives of the first five Gurus in the flower building. These five petals tell tales from Guru Nanak to Guru Arjan. There are 15 galleries which give a peep into the religion and sacrifices.
Finance Minister Upinderjit Kaur said the first phase of this project had been completed at a cost of Rs 300 crore. Virasat-a-Khalsa complex at Ananadpur Sahib, which will be opened on November 25.

Educational Reasons underpin Khalistan Movement

Education system of India is very brainwashing and backward. Instead of appreciating the true heroes the government has decided to rewrite the history with fake heroes from Hinduism. These rewritten fake history books have become the foundation of their education system.
From teachers to students everyone openly crack jokes at Sikh students. In Haryana it is normal for teachers to begin their classes with a Sikh joke. Students always bully Sikh students. In Hindu institutions such as DAV College in Amritsar and other Hindu schools Sikh students always become the target of bullying, jokes and even insulting of the turban. In Madhaya Pradesh it is not unusual for a Sikh student to return home bleeding through his nose and mouth and with his turban in his hand. This is the social life of our future generations. Under these circumstances it is normal for Sikh boys to cut their hair and leave the beautiful path of the Sikh Gurus.
In all history books, Sikhs cover only few pages including brief introduction of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s mission and battles of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. First Amrit Sanchaar of 1699 is totally twisted around and students are taught that Guru Ji beheaded goats instead of real humans. Sikhism is taught as another sect of Hinduism. During the examinations students are asked Hindu-Sikh mixed questions such as “which varna was Guru Gobind Singh born in” and “why did the Guru created Khalsa” to which the acceptable answer would be “to save Hinduism”.
When I was in 8th grade in Amritsar, I wrote an essay on Guru Gobind Singh Ji during my history exam in which I wrote many stories of Guru Ji that were not included in the books taught in the classroom. My teacher crossed out my entire essay and gave me no points. When I asked her the reason she said I had made up these stories. I provided the reference and name of book from which I had learned the stories but teacher did not accept it. According to her, only the material in the history book prescribed by the school was acceptable. This is just one example. Many other Sikh students have faced similar problems. It is all part of the Indian education system that is preventing the Sikh students from learning the truth about their faith. Students are being brainwashed in thinking that their separate faith and identity is just another form of Hinduism.
When the topic of India’s independence is taught only Hindu fighters are mentioned. Some Sikhs like Bhai Gurdit Singh of Kamagatamaru is mentioned. Other freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, and Udham Singh are shown as clean shaven wearing hats. Sikh identity is hardly taught in books or shown in the television. Main emphasis is put on Gandhi and his failed non-violence theories. Anti-Sikh leaders like Nehru, and Patel are depicted as the saviors of India. Subash Chandar is depicted as the only Hindu raising an army of Indians to fight the British. The true fact is that it was Mohan Singh who started the organization and trained the army. Not only that, 60% of the army was Sikhs. When Mohan Singh was training the army, Subhash Chandra was in Germany begging Hitler to invade India. Why are these facts being ignored by Indians? The truth is not being taught simply because they want to convince Sikh students that their contribution to freedom fight is almost negligible and they should pay their respect to Gandhi for granting them freedom. Sikhs are ignored in the history books. Sikhism is being Hinduized, Sikh freedom fighters are ignored, and false literature on Sikh faith is being taught to Sikh children. If this continues then in next ten years or so Sikhs will forget about their separate identity and their glorious history. They will start to consider themselves inseparable from Hindus.
Indian law has granted more rights to low caste people. Low caste people have reserve seats in higher institutions. Now, how is the caste of a person determined? It is very simple. When parents take their young kids to enroll in schools their last name or caste name is asked. Education is cheaper for low caste people. Sikhs who don’t believe in caste system because it is against the principles of Sikhism are forced to go back to the caste system. Many poor Sikhs choose a low caste name as their own so that their children will get special benefits in schools and higher institutions. Some Sikhs choose not to use any caste name whatsoever. Once students graduate from high schools and go to colleges or universities they face more problems. If a student with no or high caste name has 90% marks compared to a low caste student with 40% marks then according to the law low caste person is accepted. Low caste students have reserve seats and get priorities for many reasons. The first reason would be to keep them in the Hindu fold so that they don’t convert to Sikh religion, Islam or Christianity. If Brahmin government runs the country in old fashion way then obviously low caste shudras will not get equal rights and thus would want to convert to some other religion that preaches equality. When low caste people have more rights they don’t see the point in converting to Sikhism because of the fear of losing their rights.
The second reason for this would be to encourage the practice of caste system in the Sikh community. This way Sikhs are forced to stay in caste system. Sikh students with exceptional skills and ambitions are discouraged which further declines the future of the country. Many smart Sikh students are denied from higher education because of the absurd education system. If they do get accepted they have to pay heavy prices to get into their chosen career path. Many poor students quit school and seek other physical work to fulfill their family needs. The future generations of Sikhs are not being educated which only endangers Sikhs. Without any proper education what are the chances of a person to succeed in a professional career if he has any?
Even if some rich Sikhs manage to get education and become successful engineers or doctors they are not offered any good jobs. Promotions are given to non-Sikhs. It is the policy of the government to keep Sikhs away from high ranking jobs and prevent them from becoming successful. The highest official is always a Hindu. The evaluation reports are falsely filled out for the purpose of keeping Sikhs in low ranking jobs. In every field Sikhs are being held back. This has made Sikhs turn their attention to foreign countries to get better jobs so they can have better lives. A country which we call our own does not provide us with better future. Is India really our country? I don’t think so.
Indian government wants to make Sikhs illiterate because only educated people think about better future and freedom and they are the ones responsible for brining people into the freedom movements. Before India gained independence Punjab was the second in educational level but it is now at fifth level because of corrupt Indian government. Kerla being the first then followed by Maharashtra, Tamilnadu, Gurjart and then Punjab. Another thing I would like to mention is that in Sri Lanka 89.68% adult people are educated, 93.6% in Thailand, 80% in China and only 52.2% in India. India has the lowest percentage in education but still surviving. Khalistan will be in much better position compared to India.
Modern Youth
The Universities and Colleges have become a major place where drugs and alcohol are distributed in large amounts. The main targets are Sikh students. I know many international students from Punjab. Almost all of them smoke and drink but on the other hand Hindu students from Punjab neither smoke nor drink. Starting from higher institutions these drugs have found their way into high and junior high schools. Students learn more about how to become a better drug addict than how to become a better person. Eating iodex sandwiches, tails of lizards, heroin, cocaine and many other medicines are being used by the youth as pleasures. According to these drug addicts they are willing to steal and even kill to buy these drugs. Rather than investing money in some business career the youth is wasting it all in drugs. Dating, abortion and sex rate is higher than ever in Punjab. There are more bars and clubs in Punjab than grocery shops. Female infertility is widely being practiced by the public. Female population has declined by a large scale in last few years. Would these events be taking place if the government was our own? The answer is No.
Many young Sikhs are dying due to their addiction. Sikhi is disappearing in villages and cities throughout Punjab. In village Chabhal (the main center of freedom movement) there are only few families that have Amritdhari members. Rest of the Sikh youth has cut hair and most of them are into drugs. It is sad to see that a village that produced many famous Sikh freedom fighters is now a center of drug distribution. City Ghanoopur (near Khalsa College, Amritsar) has about five Amritdharis less than age of 30. Sikhi is disappearing from the main Sikh centers such as Amritsar and Gurdaspur.
Our future generations lack discipline, pride in their history and have no hope for better future. Drug abuse by the Sikh youth is not only impacting the lives of Sikhs living in Punjab but also living aboard. Many Sikhs living aboard are marrying their daughters to Hindus because they do not want to have any relationship with drug addicts. Even if Sikhs chose to marry with Sikhs the preference is given to the same caste. Look at any matrimonial site or newspapers, the ads are full of asking for jatt, kamboj, khatri, ramgharia etc type of Sikh. This is the influence of Hindu caste system. The majority has always influenced the minority groups and Sikhs will have to deal with it as long as they are living as Indians. Bollywood movies have brainwashed girls by portraying clean shaven men to be more attractive and the dream boys of every woman. The preference of clean shaven men further encourages Sikh boys to cut their hair and drives them away from Sikh way of life. An Amritdhari Sikh is looked upon as too religious or fundamentalist. A religious person is always assumed to be a ragi or preacher who took Amrit just to make a living.
Sikh guys are not the only ones who have to live the hard life. It is equally challenging for girls as well. There are many girls who wear dastaar (turban). Though they are religious but their social life is not too good because the cruel society is always looking for ways to discourage them. Girls with turban are considered “unattractive” by their family members. Their own family members discourage them from not wearing turbans because they will not be able to find a suitable husband. It is hard enough for them to get accepted in the society as it is and the last thing they need is discouragement from their own families. Do they actually think that all Sikhs have died and there is no one left who loves Sikhi and prefers to get married with someone who wears turban rather than someone who spends more time in beauty salons than at home meditating?
The Hindu government has spent billions of rupees in setting up the corrupt education system that would mislead the Sikh youth into thinking Sikhi as another sect of Hinduism. Hindu organizations are trying to destroy our future generations by keeping them busy in drugs and alcohol. Success of a community depends on its future generations. If there are no educated future generations of Sikhs then the future of Sikh nation is not looking very good. In next few decades it will be very hard to tell if Sikhs used to exist in Punjab. Indian media has played its role in misrepresenting and insulting the Sikh image on national level. Indian newspapers have always printed false information on Sikhs and called them “terrorists”. Indian channels have done their work in leading Sikh youth away from Sikhi. By preaching Hindu philosophy and caste system many uneducated Sikh families have started practicing Hindu traditions and celebrating Hindu festivals. Idol worship of the Gurus is becoming normal in every Sikh family of Punjab. If a country’s government, media, newspapers, channels, and society is hostile to another community it is a clear sign that the latter does not belong there and is therefore unwelcome. This is what is happening to Sikhs in India.
These problems created by the Indian government are evident enough to convince any Sikh that Sikhs deserve a separate country where they can teach their future generations the true version of glorious Sikh history, Punjabi language, Sikh culture and true Sikh way of life taught by the Sikh Gurus. Without Khalistan Sikhs will always be treated as second class citizens in India. Without a Sikh government coming into power the Indian government will keep spending billions of rupees to continue its anti-Sikh activities. A religion cannot survive without sovereignty. Sikhs need religious sovereignty as well as political power to preserve their distinct appearance. Only Khalistan’s government can take action against the distribution of drugs and alcohol. As long as India has control over Punjab the education system will not change and Sikhs will continue to see the decline of their future generation going away from Sikhi and more towards Hinduism.
Our land and our minds need to be free. A person may give up all his freedoms but as long as he gets to keep his freedom of speech he can save himself. With free speech we can represent ourselves and speak for our rights. With free speech we can educate our people and the youth to come back in the fold of Sikhism. With free speech we can preach our religion and inspire others to join us in the freedom struggle to conquest our land. In India we do not have this freedom. Anyone who speaks for the cause of Sikhs is killed. People are living in a trapped world of Brahmins where they have to live as “long haired Hindus”, do what the government tells them to do, and keep quiet after seeing their sons getting killed. It is up to Sikhs to decide whether they want to live in India by giving up their every single right or they want to have better lives by forming their own state. A state where the government will be lot less corrupted, where the bribes will not a play any role in getting jobs, where religion will not be a factor in succeeding in life, where everyone can enjoy the freedom to practice their religion, where everyone can speak for the right cause, where the youth is encouraged and helped by the government to pursue their education further, where police will not break into anyone’s house and kill innocent minorities, where criminals will be justly punished for their crimes, where Sikhs will see Sikhi flourishing and spreading in every corner of Punjab, and most of all where people get the feeling that they belong there and can call it their home. Khalistan, a Sikh state, ensures all of this. Do you want slavery or independence? The choice is yours. Let’s unite together and work for the betterment of ourselves and our future generations. Let’s free our people, our country and our Punjab, the land where we belong.

Unheard: Atrocities on Sikh Women in Punjab

“If any action occurs in this village, every single male is going to be taken out and shot. Then we’re going to take all the women to our camp and there we’re going to create a new breed for Punjab.”
Brig. RP Sinha addressing assembled Sikh villagers on March 8, 1991, International Women's Day

And this was the way International Women’s Day was celebrated in Punjab. The untold story of the Sikh Resistance Movement is the story of Sikh women. It is a feature of Punjabi culture that atrocities on women are rarely reported and remain hidden. Families feel ashamed to speak of the treatment women received at the hands of Indian Security Forces, but this story must be told.

Role of Sikh Women in the Movement

Many Sikh women participated in the Sikh resistance movement as fighters. Like their sisters from past ages, Sikh women joined their brothers in the fight for freedom. Many brave Singhnees fought side by side with their Singhs and attained Shaheedee. The examples of Shaheeds Bhai Harvinderjit Singh Taini Babbar and Bibi Manjeet Kaur Babbar (their story will be posted later), Bhai Pritpal Singh and Bibi Harjeet Kaur, etc, are notable.

Sikh women often worked as messengers for Sikh Resistance groups as well as preparing hideouts and serving tired Sikh fighters.

Humiliation: A common form of torture used on SikhsBut unfortunately, many Sikh women were also the target of the bloody thirsty Indian Security forces. Sikh women were ruthlessly tortured, not only physically but also mentally. They were used as tools to force the surrender of Sikh fighters who were their relatives and also as a means of humiliating families. When Sikh women were arrested with their husbands, the husbands were often forced to watch the rape of their wives. Rape was used as an interrogation tool.

The Indian Forces also began a program of “shudhee karan”, which was a code name for the rape of Sikh women. They joked that the offspring of their rapes would change the genetic makeup of the Sikh community and they would kill the Resistance in this way. Many rape victims took their own lives, unable to live with the ongoing humiliation at the hands of the Indian police.

The first example of the atrocities heaped upon Sikh women is that of Bibi Amandeep Kaur.

Shaheed Bibi Amandeep Kaur

Bibi Amandeep KaurBibi Amandeep Kaur was the sister of Bhai Harpinder Singh Goldy aka. Pamma of the Khalistan Commando Force. She was only twenty when she was arrested, tortured, raped and then killed by the Punjab Police.

Bibi Amandeep Kaur, before her Shaheedee was on the run but had the courage to tell her story to human rights workers.

Here is her story in her own words, shortly before she was murdered [I have divided the sections for easier reading] :

Marriage & Arrest

"Jaswinder Singh Sraa son of Surjeet Singh of Jassowal village Ludhiana dst. Was born and brought up on the UK. He presently lives in Mississauga Canada.

He came to India on October 12, 1991 for marriage on October 24th. We along with my father Jaswant Sngh, village Headman Bhag Singh and Member of Panchyaat Meet Singh went to the office of the sub-registrar, Rampura Phul, for registration of the marriage. As we came out of the courtroom, the SHO of Phul, picked up three of us, me, my husband and my father. We were taken to Phul Police Station where SSP Kahlon, SP Mohkam Singh, DSP Aulah and SP of Operations were present.

Inhuman Torture

The SSP on seeing us, promptly ordered that my two male relations be stripped naked in my presence. He then took out the picture of his slain son and addressing them remarked that he had taken the revenge for the murder (by dishonouring me, the sister of an underground Sikh activist).

Kahlon then started abusing my husband and father. He took hold of a lathi to beat the two. It was then the turn of his subordinates who beat us with their leather belts. The SSP ordered that my husband and father slap each other.

After this cruel exercise, we were blindfolded. I was relieved of my two wedding rings, a pair of ear-rings and one golden chain. From my husband, the SSP snatched $500 and a bracelet of 3.5 tolas and his wedding ring. My father was similarly robbed of Rs. 2500. I and my husband were put into our van PCL-8433. We heard the SSP directing his staff to set our house on fire and bring the wife and younger daughter of Jaswant Singh (my mother and sister) to the police station for similar treatment.

After Kahlon left, we were brought back to the police station. While my husband and father were put in the lock-up, I was kept out for maltreatment [i.e. for sexual assault].

Early next morning we three were taken to Sardulgarh by our van. On October 27, my mother Surjeet Kaur was brought to us. She told us her story of dishonor [rape], torture and maltreatment. She was kept in a Rampura police station and at the head office of CIA Bathinda.

In our absence, the police from Rampura Phul ransacked our house and removed all our belongings. The village panchayat was not let anywhere near the house. No seizure report was prepared and handed over to the panchayat or anyone else.

12 Days of Terror

I, my mother and father were kept in Sardulgarh police station for 12 days. But my husband was moved to Phul police station on October 29. The SSP was present there. He ordered my husband's release on October 30, telling him to forget about his marriage to me and leave India immediately, which he did the next day. In the meantime, the village panchayat came to know of our detention at Sardulgarh and they came there to rescue us but we were removed stealthily to Boha police station.

At Boha, I was not given even water for washing under SSP's order. We were maltreated there [the woman was reluctant to give details of the mistreatment].

After eight days, the three of us were removed from Boha to CIA Bathinda. My mother and I were released from three weeks of illegal detention. My father was kept in CIA Bathinda and at Phul and was produced in a court on November 30. A case was registered against him.

KP Gill ‘Helpless’

While we were in custody, Jaswinder Singh, who happens to be brother of my father, telephoned DGP KP Gill at telephone No. 753-546840 requesting him to intervene but Gill told him that Kahlon did not listen to his advice.

We have learnt that the SSP had picked us up because on October 23, 1991, some millitants had abducted six traders of Phul and the police suspected my 16-year-old brother Harpinder Singh Goldy aka. Pamma's hand in the abduction. My brother had gone underground in the wake of police harassment in August 1991 when he was studying in class 10 + 1 .

I have gone underground to escape further humiliation and torture because the SSP Harkishan Kahlon is after me, for unknown reasons. Because of the "treatment" given to my husband, he has left me and does not wish to keep me as his wife any longer.”

Shaheedee

Bibi Amandeep Kaur stayed in hiding until January 21 1992. The police then played a sinister game. They asked he to return to her house, returning all her property and insisted they would not harass her any more. They also bailed her father the day before. Jaswant Singh did not trust the police so he did not return home. Amandeep Kaur did. When her mother was out, two gun men with masked faces came on behalf of SSP Bathinda, Kahlon, and shot Bibi Amandeep Kaur dead on January 21st at 7:30pm.

The Story of Bibi Gurmeet Kaur

Bibi Gurmeet Kaur was a student of the 10 grade at village Lehrkaa near Kathoo Nangal. Bibi Gurmeet Kaur and her older sister Bibi Parmjeet Kaur had gone to visit their father Swarn Singh and brother Satnam Singh who were in prison for giving shelter to Sikh Resistance fighters. They had returned home on April 21, 1989 when the Indian police raided their home and arrested Bibi Parmjeet Kaur. The police told villagers that the Deputy Commissioner wanted to record her statement. Parmjeet Kaur was kept in custody one night and then returned home. Next Gurmeet Kaur was arrested and kept for two nights. She too was released but threatened with dire circumstances if she told what had happened to her. Gurmeet Kaur did not remain silent and recounted what had happened to her.

When Gurmeet Kaur was brought to the police station, she was stripped naked and tortured in the verandah of the police station in plain view of all the police officers. That night, the police blindfolded her and locked her in a room. In that room, drunken Indian Police officers took turns raping her. Gurmeet Kaur fell unconscious and when she woke the next morning, she found herself covered in blood and stark naked.

The next day, Gurmeet Kaur was tortured again. The perverse and twisted police officers went so far as to put salt and chili peppers into Gurmeet Kaur’s private parts.

On April 24, when Gurmeet Kaur was released, she could not walk. She was taken to hospital for treatment by the villagers.

Other Cases

These cases are not unique. Gang Rapes and humiliation were common in Punjab. 19 year old Baljeet Kaur, sister of Sikh fighter Bhai Gurjeet Singh was also gang raped. Bibi Rachhpal Kaur was arrested for no reason but for having caught the eye of the police party and On September 5, 1989 was gang raped by the Kali Das Sharma and other police officers.
Then & Now: Atrocities on Sikh Women in Punjab

The story of the treatment of Sikh women at the hands of Indian Security Forces is a long and sad one. I don’t know which cases to highlight and which to leave. Should I write about Sarbjit Kaur (14) and Salwinder Kaur (13) who were abducted while collecting clay for a school project and then gang raped and killed by Indian Police. Or should I write about the seven-year-old daughter of a Singh who was molested and then dismembered by the Police’s Poohla Nang. The list is endless.

The abuse of Sikh women was and is widespread in Punjab. Mothers, wives and children of Sikh fighters were considered legitimate targets. The butchers who were responsible for these tragedies are still in the police force today. They are now high ranking officers. And the abuse continues…

“Now Get Your Khalistan…”

Victim of Police TortureBhai Nirvair Singh was the Granthi of Gurdwara Shaheedaa(n), Amritsar. Bhai Nirvair Singh’s younger brother, Bhai Kulwant Singh was a Sikh Resistance Fighter and the police constantly raided their home in search of him. Finally, unable to locate Kulwant Singh, SSP Azhar Alam and his “Black Cats” shot Bhai Nirvair Singh to death. Bhai Nirvair Singh’s wife, Bibi Manjit Kaur, was with him at the time and ran to save herself. The police caught Bibi Manjit Kaur and badly beat her with their rifle butts. They let her live, but her ordeal was far from over.

On May 5, 1988, the police again raided the house. Bhai Nirvair Singh’s youngest brother, Bhai Dilbagh Singh, a Granthi at Gurdwara Baba Bakala, was home but hid himself, fearing for his life. The police spotted him and without any warning, shot him dead. Bibi Manjit Kaur was still in the house when the police entered and they immediately began to beat her. They grabbed her by her hair and dragged her to the fields where the Indian Police tortured her for an hour and a half. When Bibi Manjit Kaur was almost senseless, they threw her on top of Bhai Dilbagh Singh’s dead body and laughed, “Now get your Khalistan…”. Bibi Manjit Kaur’s feet were so swollen from the torture that she could not walk for days. Her scalp also oozed blood from the repeated blows. Villagers who were witness to this scene were also beaten and told to keep their mouths shut. Harassment of their family and relatives continued.

Azhar Alam

Today, Azhar Alam is a high ranking official in the Vigilance Bureau of the Punjab Police. The man responsible for the brutal torture of thousands of innocent Sikh men and women has not been charged with any crime.

Bibi Gurdev Kaur & Bibi Gurmeet Kaur

Perhaps the most brutal of all Indian Police officials in Punjab was Batala’s Gobind Ram. Gobind Ram took sadistic pleasure in personally torturing Sikh prisoners and kept a vat filled with feces and urine that he force-fed to amritdhari Sikhs while saying, “You have drunk the amrit of Gobind Singh, now drink the amrit of Gobind Ram.”

Gobind Ram’s atrocities came to light nationwide when he ordered the arrest of Bibi Gurdev Kaur (wife of Bhai Kulwant Singh Babbar) and Bibi Gurmeet Kaur (wife of Bhai Mehal Singh). Both Singhs were underground at the time.

On August 21, 1989, a van with tinted windows came and parked in front of the Parbhat Finance Company, Amritsar, where both Singhnees worked. Six armed men got out of the van and approached Bibi Gurmeet Kaur and Bibi Gurdev Kaur, ordering them to get in the van. When the Bibis demanded to know who they were, one man identified himself as Lakhwinder Lakha, ASI. He said that the police party had come from Batala Sadr police station and they would have to come with him. When the Singhnees began to make a scene, the police threw them into the van. Bibi Gurmeet Kaur and Bibi Gurdev Kaur’s dastaars were ripped off and used to tie their arms and their kirpans were also taken off.

The van arrived at the notorious Beco Torture Centre in Batala at 7pm. When the Singhnees went inside, they saw SSP Gobind Ram beating a Sikh youth with a rod. When he saw the two women enter, he immediately came towards them and hit Gurdev Kaur in the stomach with his rod. Bibi Gurdev Kaur collapsed onto the ground and began to bleed from her private parts. The bleeding did not stop for several days. Gobind Ram kept hitting Bibi Gurdev Kaur in the stomach without saying a word for five minutes. He then gave the rod to another Inspector whom he ordered to hit Bibi Gurdev Kaur in the joints.

Gobind Ram next moved to Bibi Gurmeet Kaur whom he threw to the ground and began to kick in the chest. The next torture to begin was the “ghotna” where a heavy log is rolled on the thighs with men standing on top, which results in ripped muscles. In Bibi Gurdev Kaur’s own words, “Then they put a heavy roller on my thighs and made a few policemen stand on it, while others rotated it. I kept on screaming but they hit me with belts and kept on asking me the whereabouts of my husband Kulwant Singh.”

Both women were severely tortured for two days. Gobind Ram kept demanding to know where Bhai Kulwant Singh and Bhai Mehal Singh were. The Bibis kept repeating that they did not know, but Gobind Ram was not satisfied. They were tortured until they fell unconscious. They were then revived and tortured again.

When Bibi Gurdev Kaur was nearing her death, the police secretly took her to the government hospital and left her there. Gurmeet Kaur's right leg was paralysed and both Singhnees had been kept awake since their arrest. Someone was called from the outside to massage their limbs so they could regain some sensation again. Both women could not walk but were forced to do so. In the hospital, a merciful lady doctor took care of Gurdev Kaur and also informed her family.

News of all this reached the media and all political religious and social organizations condemned Gobind Ram's actions. When finally Gurmeet Kaur refused to hand over any Singh, she was threatened with being killed. By now though, because the press had gotten wind of the arrest, she was indicted in a false case and sent to jail. After some time, she too was released.

Because Bibi Gurdev Kaur received the best care possible, she was saved from death, but for the rest of her life she would face health problems.

Human Rights organizations condemned Gobind Ram for his brutal treatment of these two women. He claimed that no torture had occurred and both were kept in a “Guest House”. KP Gill, the Director General of Punjab Police announced, “the reports against SSP Batala, Gobind Ram by members of Panchyats and Sarpanches (community leaders) were false. There is no truth in them. This was propoganda against the police officers. This was verified after investigations. There were such reports against other honest and hardworking police officers [as well]”

When no action was taken against Gobind Ram, and he continued to torture and maim at will, the Singhs took it upon themselves to finish this rabid dog. Gobind Ram was killed on January 10, 1990 in a massive bombing.

KP Gill: Super Cop or Sexual Predator?

KP GillKP Gill, ex-Director General of Punjab Police, is thought to have single handedly crushed the Khalistan movement in Punjab. He has been given the title of “Super Cop” by Indian media despite having unleashed a wave of terror on the Sikhs that was not even seen in the days of the Mughals. Torture methods were so grotesque and brutal that they cannot be described.

Gill was known to the Sikhs of Punjab as a drunk who also preyed on helpless women. Although Gill is proclaimed “Super Cop” in India and considered a great hero, the fact that he has been convicted for sexual assault is usually ignored.

In 1988, KP Gill was attending a party to celebrate Operation Black Thunder (an assault on Sree Darbaar Sahib Amrtisar). At this party, in plain view of all attendees, KP Gill sexually assaulted Indian Administrative Service officer Rupen Deol Bajaj. Bajaj was not helpless like most victims and instead of forgetting the incident, filed a police report.

Other officals spoke with Bajaj and asked her to withdraw the case since Gill was a hero in the fight against the Sikh Resistance but despite all this, she persisted. According to one report, “The government immediately took sides and tried to squelch or delay the court case. It also took petty action against Ms. Bajaj by making her a low-ranking official, stopping her mail, taking her off of mailing lists, removing her from government telephone books, etc”

Finally, in 1996, the butcher of Punjab, KP Gill was convicted of sexual assault. Though he was initially sentenced to three months in prison, the sentence was reduced to three years supervised probation (later further reduced to one year, un-supervised probation). He was also ordered to pay Rupen Deol Bajaj Rs. 2 lakh and pay Rs. 50 000 in legal expenses.

If a high ranking officer could not escape being a victim of Gill’s lust, what to say of the thousands of poor Sikh women kept in dark cells without any charges and without any rights? This is the character of India’s hero, KP Gill, “Super Cop”

And The Abuse Continues Today…

Some argue that in the turmoil of Punjab, perhaps some excesses were committed but times have changed. The Police have reformed and India now treats Sikhs fairly. A glance at the newspapers is enough to dispel that belief. The following story appeared in the Chandigarh Tribune on September 27, 2003 http://www.tribuneindia.com/2003/20030927/chd.htm

Woman alleges inhuman torture by police

Chandigarh, September 26

Karamjit Kaur shows injury marks on her leg. — Tribune photo by Pankaj SharmaAn another incident of brutal torture came to light when a 20-year-old girl, Karamjit Kaur, who was rescued by the Warrant Officer of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, today alleged that she was subjected to inhuman treatment and was asked to remove her clothes by the Punjab Police personnel at a press conference organised by the NGO Lawyers for Human Rights International here today.

“Five persons including two women, who had been allegedly subjected to third degree torture for several days by the Punjab Police were rescued by the Warrant Officer of the Punjab and Haryana High Court yesterday. These five persons were suspected to be involved in a murder case by the police. The five persons who were released included — Karamjit Kaur, Tirath Kaur, Sahib Singh, Gurdev Singh and Gurmit Singh,” informed Mr Arunjeev Singh Walia, Press Secretary.

Showing torture marks on her body, the victim while addressing scribes, said she was detained at Nabha police station for several days and been tortured. She was even ordered to remove her clothes by police constables, the victim alleged.

Narrating her tale of woe, she said police constables, after taking liquor usually interrogated her in the midnight. Even if a woman constable was called most of the time she stayed outside the room during her interrogation. The victim further added that: “I can not reveal the details whatever happened to me was worse than a hell.”

She further added that
“she was subjected to inhuman third degree torture twice by pulling her legs apart in 180 degree and also beaten up with an iron rod in between her legs and two police men putting pressure on that rod.

“I was also threatened of liquidation if I did not disclose the truth and was also molested by the policemen"
, the victim further said. Similarly, her mother said: “It was difficult to see my husband, son and daughter to be subjected to third degree torture by the police.”

When contacted the SHO of the police station concerned denied that they were subjected to third degrees torture. He said that all five of them were called at police station only for a day. Thereafter they were not traceable.
The General Secretary of the NGO, Mr Navkiran Singh, who had moved a petition in the high court for the release of victims said a Warrant Officer had secured the release five victims from the illegal custody of police station Kotwali, Nabha, Patiala district on September 25. He also informed that the high court had also ordered the medical examination of the victims. The Chairman of the NGO, Mr Amar Singh Chahal, demanded a CBI inquiry into the case.
